Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026 · Effective: 6 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information 4nations International India collects when you enquire about studying abroad, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers our website, our advertising on Instagram and Facebook, our enquiry forms, and conversations you start with us on WhatsApp or by phone.
The short version. We collect your contact details and study background so a counsellor can advise you on courses, universities and applications. We share them with the universities and institutions you ask us to apply to, and with the group companies handling your application. We do not sell your information. You can ask us to correct or delete it at any time by writing to [email protected].
1. Who we are
4nations International India is the India operation of 4nations, Sydney, Australia (4nations.com.au). We provide placement and application support for students applying to institutions in Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and Germany.
For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, 4nations International India is the Data Fiduciary for the information described in this policy — that is, we decide what is collected and why, and we are answerable for it.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit an enquiry form — on this website, or an instant form inside an Instagram or Facebook ad — we ask for some or all of the following:
- Contact details: your name, phone number, email address and the state you live in.
- Study background: your last qualification, the year you completed it, your stream, and your English test status (for example IELTS).
- What you are looking for: the country, course or intake you are interested in.
- Anything else you choose to tell us in a message, a WhatsApp conversation or a call with a counsellor.
Where an enquiry form sits inside a Facebook or Instagram ad, some fields may be filled in automatically from your Meta profile. You can edit them before submitting, and nothing reaches us until you press submit.
Information we collect automatically
Our website is served through Cloudflare, which records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site available and secure. Basic, aggregated visit analytics tell us which pages are read; they do not identify you personally.
Information about children
Our services are intended for students aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of a child under 18 without verifiable parental consent, and we do not use it for tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete them.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
| What we do | Why | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Contact you about your enquiry, by phone, WhatsApp or email | You asked us to advise you | Your consent, given when you submitted the form |
| Assess which courses and countries you are eligible for | To give advice that is actually applicable to you | Your consent |
| Prepare and submit applications to institutions you choose | To deliver the service you engaged us for | Performance of our engagement with you |
| Book and hold counselling appointments at our offices | Visits are pre-booked, not walk-in | Your consent |
| Send you updates about intakes, deadlines and events | To keep you informed of relevant opportunities | Your consent — withdrawable at any time |
| Keep records of applications and advice given | To answer later queries and meet our obligations | Legal and regulatory compliance |
We do not use your enquiry details to make any automated decision that affects you. A counsellor — a person — assesses your eligibility.
4. Who we share it with
- Universities, colleges and institutions you ask us to apply to, or whose eligibility you ask us to check. Applying necessarily means sending them your details.
- 4nations group companies, including 4nations in Sydney, where the country you are applying to is handled by that office.
- Service providers who operate our systems on our behalf — website hosting, email, messaging and customer-record tools. They may only use your data to provide that service to us.
- Government authorities, where a visa or immigration authority, or the law, requires it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.
5. Transfers outside India
Because we place students with institutions abroad, delivering the service means sending your information to countries outside India — including Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and Germany. Where we do this, it is because it is necessary for the application you have asked us to make, and we transfer only what that application requires.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not proceed: up to 3 years from your last contact with us, since students commonly return in a later intake.
- Applications we submitted: up to 7 years, so we can answer questions about an application or a visa outcome after the fact.
- Marketing consent: until you withdraw it, after which we keep only a note that you opted out, so we do not contact you again by mistake.
When a period ends, we delete the information or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- Show you what personal data of yours we hold, and who we have shared it with.
- Correct or complete anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your data, where we are not required to keep it.
- Withdraw your consent — including consent to be contacted — at any time.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated.
- Complain to us, and if we do not resolve it, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Write to [email protected] and we will respond. We may need to verify who you are first, so that we do not disclose your details to somebody else.
To stop hearing from us: reply STOP to a WhatsApp message from us, tell the counsellor who calls you, or email [email protected]. This does not affect messages about an application already in progress.
8. WhatsApp and phone contact
When you submit an enquiry, you are asking us to get in touch — which we usually do on WhatsApp, on +91 95993 31154, or by phone. Your conversation with us is held in WhatsApp's own systems as well as ours, and is subject to WhatsApp's own privacy terms in addition to this policy. Do not send us documents containing financial details or identity numbers over WhatsApp unless a counsellor has asked you to.
9. Advertising on Instagram and Facebook
We advertise on Instagram and Facebook to reach students who may be interested in studying abroad. We target these ads by broad characteristics such as location, age and interests — we do not upload your contact details to build ad audiences, and we do not use your enquiry to target you with further advertising. Meta's own handling of your data on its platforms is governed by Meta's privacy policy.
10. Keeping it secure
We restrict access to enquiry records to the counsellors and staff who need them, our website is served over an encrypted connection, and our systems are protected by access controls. No system is completely secure; if a breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you directly.
